In response to the invitation received from King Abdullah ibn Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, Dr. Shawki Allam, left for Rome on Wednesday morning to participate in the international conference on interreligious dialogue. The conference will be held from November 3-4, 2016, in the Vatican's Pontifical Gregorian University.
On the conference's sidelines, Dr. Shawki is to meet Pop Francis to discuss Dar al-Iftaa's leading experience in promoting the culture of tolerance and coexistence inside and outside Egypt, enhancing interreligious and intercultural dialogue and the Dar's efforts in encountering extremist ideologies.
Dr. Allam will speak at the conference about the value of compassion in Islam, and its role in promoting peace and coexistence among people regardless of faith and race by citing examples from the Prophet Muhammad's life.
